| College Station High School’s Mascot & Colors Chosen
The new College Station High School has its mascot and school colors. The College Station ISD Board of Trustees Tuesday evening supported the majority choice of seventh and eighth graders, who will make up the high school’s first students in the fall of 2012. Trustees unanimously voted Cougars as the mascot and purple and black as the colors. CSHS Principal Mike Martindale did not reveal the final numbers from Monday’s student vote. Since 1997, members of the Bryan-College Station Better Business Bureau has recognized local companies committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior. There were 50 nominees and 20 finalists for this year’s local Torch Awards. The winners were announced Thursday at a luncheon attended by 285 businessowners and employees. Steve Miller, with A&M Athletics, said, "There was a line in the front lobby, at our ticket windows--who wanted to sign up for tickets for next season." The same day more than 5,000 people welcomed home the National Champs, 135 new orders came in for season tickets. "We're up over 1,600, which was the record last season," Miller said.
